REVIEW: Le grand magic hotel disNeyland paris

In 2024, our son was obsessed with Toy Story and our daughter was equally obsessed with Frozen we thought its time to go to Disneyland!

We had already planned a trip to a Eurocamp just over an hour away and decided this was the perfect time to do a cheap (as cheap as Disney can ever be!) and cheerful day out from our campsite. A holiday on holiday if you will!

Disneyland Paris May 2024

We decided to add a day on to our trip and choose a hotel close to Disney so we can wake up and get straight to the park.

We had only one day at Disney, so to make the most of it, it meant choosing accommodation that was convenient, comfortable, and stress-free—and Le Grand Magic Hotel delivered on all fronts! There was no way we could afford to stay in one of the actual Disney hotels so Le Grand Magic was as close as we could get.

Our main reason for booking Le Grand Magic? A free shuttle to Disneyland Paris to keep things as streamlined as possible. And it turned out to be the perfect choice!

First Impressions

Stepping into Le Grand Magic Hotel felt like entering a whimsical, almost-Disney-like world (without stepping on any copyright toes ). The decor was stunning, from the reception area to the lounge and restaurant. Every detail added to the magical atmosphere, making it an exciting place to stay, especially for the kids.

They even have a light show at 7 PM every evening in the lounge—a fun touch that makes the hotel feel extra special.

The family Room

We booked a standard family room, and it turned out to be perfect for our stay. The room was spacious enough for all of us to feel comfortable, and the setup was ideal for traveling with kids. It could definitely do with some updating but overall it was great.

One of the biggest highlights? The bunk bed! Our kids absolutely loved it—climbing up and down became part of their adventure. For families with older children, the hotel also offers different room configurations, including double bunk beds or two single beds, so you can choose what works best for your family.

Another huge plus was the bath—a small but important detail when traveling with young children. After a long day at Disneyland, it was great to have the option of a relaxing soak before bedtime.

  • Tip: If possible, request a garden-view room. The scenery overlooking the lush gardens and lake is absolutely stunning and adds to the peaceful, magical feel of the hotel. Waking up to that view was a lovely bonus, and it also made sitting out on the terrace or by the window a more enjoyable experience.

Would definitely recommend checking with reception upon check-in to see if a garden view room is available—it’s worth it!

Free Shuttle to Disneyland Paris

One of the biggest perks of staying at Le Grand Magic Hotel is the complimentary shuttle service to Disneyland Paris. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes, and the journey takes only about 15 minutes, making it a quick and easy way to get to the parks without the stress of driving or parking.

The shuttle picks up right outside the hotel doors, so there’s no need to walk to a separate bus stop or navigate public transport with tired kids and buggies in tow.

Shuttle Experience

The shuttle itself is a standard Disneyland Paris hotel bus, with comfortable seating and space for standing passengers when it gets full. Since it serves multiple partner hotels in the area, expect a few stops along the way, but it’s still a smooth and relatively quick ride.

  • Tip: Plan your return trip strategically!
While the morning shuttles are generally fine, the evening return can be chaotic, especially right after major events like the 5:30 PM parade or Disney Illuminations. We found the shuttle to be extremely busy at peak times, and unfortunately, we couldn’t fit onto the first bus that arrived. We waited for the next one, but that too was packed. By this point I was ready to jump in a taxi to be honest but we were worried about cost.

Alternative Options:

  • If you don’t want to deal with the rush, consider leaving the park a little earlier or later than the crowds.

  • If you prefer flexibility, you could also take a taxi or drive yourself—Disneyland Paris has a large parking area, and since the hotel is so close, the drive is just a few minutes. Note the parking charges are from 35 Euros per day!

Overall, the free shuttle is a fantastic perk, but we do think they should increase the number of buses during peak hours to accommodate all the guests comfortably. That said, if you plan your day right, it’s an easy and stress-free way to get to and from the parks! I just wish we had left earlier or stayed later!

Buffet Dining

The buffet was a big win for the kids—lots of variety, no waiting, and simple dining. However, at €39.99 per adult (including a small drink), it did feel a little pricey but it was a convenient was to eat after a day of travel and we couldn’t be bothered to jump back in the car to be honest!

  • Tip: Arrive right at 6:30 PM when the buffet opens—it gets very busy later! No need to book; you can pay at the door.

magical Decor & Atmosphere

The entire hotel is beautifully designed—from the grand reception area to the stylish lounge and restaurant. Everything feels immersive and magical, setting the perfect tone for a Disneyland stay. To be honest, its as close to a Disney hotel as you could get without getting in trouble!

Pool – Small but Fun!

Guests have access to a small indoor pool—perfect for a quick dip before dinner. There's also a baby pool, which is great for little ones.

Gardens & Terrace

The hotel overlooks a beautiful lake, and both the lounge and restaurant have outdoor terraces—a lovely spot to relax. After a long journey, it was lovely to sit here and enjoy a cold glass of rose!

Overall, we thought it was great value for money, Disney hotels started at £500 a night for the time we were looking!

We paid £162 for a standard family room, which included:

  • Buffet breakfast

  • Free parking

  • Use of the swimming pool

  • Huge garden and terrace with lake walk

  • Plus, a huge inflatable assault course in the garden—bonus fun for the kids!

  • and of course, the FREE shuttle
