I put Disney in air quotes because honestly, when can Disney ever be done on a budget?!

After booking a Sun Holiday to a Eurocamp in Northern Paris, we realised it was just over an hour to Disneyland Paris. This was probably going to be our only chance to go because I refuse to pay the extortionate prices - this offered a cost effective was for our kids to see Disney, even if it was only for a day…

By choosing less crowded or more affordable destinations can make the experience more enjoyable for everyone. Opting for quieter spots means easier sightseeing, fewer headaches, and a smoother time with a buggy or little legs.

Taking a family sabbatical before your child starts school for the first time can be especially meaningful. Starting school is a big milestone — not just for your child, but for the whole family. It marks the beginning of a new chapter where routines, responsibilities, and outside influences start to play a bigger role in your child’s daily life. A sabbatical gives you precious, uninterrupted time together before that big transition.

Today we chat with Chloe AKA That Holiday Mum she reflects on her 6 week sabbatical in 2024 - just before her Son started school, how she prepared, budgeting and why they chose Portugal as their adventure destination.

DESTINATION GUIDES

Sometimes, parents just need a break from the chaos — no nappies, no school runs, no constant “Muuum!” or “Daaad!” ringing in their ears. A child-free getaway gives them a chance to properly relax, reconnect as a couple, and actually finish a conversation without being interrupted. It’s not about being selfish — it’s about recharging, so they can come back feeling more patient, more present, and a lot less frazzled. Everyone wins, really.

Reconnection just just stop with your partner. Its important to take time away with your friends, family or even a solo trip.

The Big Adventure Club is here to inspire you to make the most of your child - free getaway and explore those less child friendly places.

albania

There’s no doubt Ablania is having a moment right now.

With its beautiful coastline, rich cultural heritage, and welcoming atmosphere, more and more visitors are choosing it as an alternative to the more crowded and expensive spots in Europe. In 2024 alone, the country welcomed a record 11.7 million tourists, reflecting a strong increase in interest. Improved infrastructure and a growing focus on eco-friendly, high-end tourism have also contributed to its appeal. Albania is quickly becoming a top choice for those seeking a unique and affordable European getaway.
