Pram-Friendly Christmas Lights Walking Tour in London (Bond Street Loop)

Save this guide for your festive trip to London. If you’re planning a family day out to see the capital’s Christmas lights, here’s a FREE walking route that starts and ends at Bond Street Station — my favourite starting point because it has lifts for buggies. Along the way you’ll find pretty streets, iconic arcades, Christmas markets, and plenty of family-friendly stops for hot chocolate and snacks.

Good to know, parent to parent

  • When to visit: Lights typically switch on from early–mid November, with extra festivities through December. Weekday late afternoons are calmer for families. They will stay on until early January.

  • Pram-friendly: Start at Bond Street (step-free) and keep to wide pavements/arcades.

  • Toilets & baby change: You’ll find facilities in Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason along with most cafés and restaurants.

  • Distance & time: Allow 2.5–3.5 hours at a gentle pace (approx. 3–4 miles/5–6 km) with snack/photo stops. Although, it would only take 1 hour with no stops!

  • Weather plan: Arcades are covered; pack layers, a rain cover and something warm for little hands. Head to Selfridges and Fortnums if it starts raining!

Your Festive Route
start & finish at Bond Street

1) Bond Street Station (Step-free start)

Why here? Lifts for buggies and quick access to Oxford Street/New Bond Street. Grab a quick look at the Oxford Street lights before heading south. You can also access Winter Wonderland from here if you are visiting.

2) Selfridges Christmas Shop & 2025 Collaboration with Disney!

Think tinsel trolleys, Disney decorations and the Disney café at Dolly’s — magical for little ones. They also host confetti festivities on select dates (DM me for times). Handy loos and baby-change. Stay for the confetti show on the following dates; 6, 7, 8 November 5, 6 and 8–13 December at the Atrium in Selfridges

3) Detour: The Ever After Garden, Grosvenor Square

A serene pause among illuminated white roses in Grosvenor Square ( late Nov–Dec). A beautiful moment to slow down with the kids.

4) New Bond Street

Stroll past the luxury storefronts and sparkling installations. It’s all about wow-factor windows and wide, pram-friendly pavements.

5) Coffee Stop: Ralph’s Coffee

A chic little reset for grown-ups; grab a hot chocolate or babyccino for the minis. Grab a great photo opportunity and take in the atmosphere.

6) Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly

Don’t miss the dancing window installations and that iconic façade.

Family lunch tip: Head to the Pavilion Café (2nd floor) — relaxed, bright, and you’ll often find Paddington Bear lunchboxes for little adventurers.

7) Burlington Arcade → Princes Arcade → Piccadilly Arcade

Step into a bygone era of covered walkways. These arcades are brilliant on drizzly days, with sparkling décor and beautifully dressed windows.

8) Leicester Square Christmas Market & Ice Rink

A classic market vibe with festive stalls and an ice rink. Great spot for churros, hot chocolate and a little sit-down.

9) Optional Extension: Covent Garden Piazza

If legs are happy, continue to Covent Garden for hourly snowfalls (in December), pop-ups and photo opps by the huge tree and decorations (look out for LEGO collaboration in November)

Note: this will add a considerable about of time onto your route as there is so much to see in Covent Garden!

10) Regent Street Angels & Hamleys

Loop back via Regent Street’s iconic angels. You’ll pass Hamleys — keep an eye out for special character pop-ups at the entrance during the season.

11) Optional Extension: Carnaby Street & Liberty London

Pop into Carnaby for its always-creative theme and Liberty for heritage charm. Plenty of lunch/dinner choices nearby for a cosy family refuel. Liberty is an iconic store with old time charm and a beautiful Christmas shop.

12) Oxford Circus → Bond Street (Finish)

Soak up the Oxford Street lights, then make your way back to Bond Street Station to close the loop.

Local tip: Take the 55 bus along Oxford St to see the lights and give your legs a rest. At only £1.55 pp it’s cheaper than the tourist buses! You can get off at Tottenham Court Road (the end of Oxford St and hop back on the underground here)

Family-Friendly Snack Stops (along the route)

  • Selfridges: Disney café at Dolly’s; festive treats galore

  • Ralph’s Coffee: Quick caffeine/hot chocolate break

  • Fortnum & Mason – Pavilion Café: Easygoing, central, and Paddington lunchboxes for kids

  • Leicester Square Market: Warming street snacks and sweet treats

  • Carnaby/Soho side streets: Loads of casual options for early dinners

Accessibility & Crowd Tips from a Londoner

  • Step-free start: Bond Street is your best bet with lifts for buggies.

  • Timing: Start before 3pm so little ones see the switch from daytime to twinkly night without a late bedtime.

  • Arcade cover: Use the arcades as mini “weather shelters.”

  • Weekdays > weekends: If you can, go Mon–Fri be aware of rush hour from late afternoon to early evening.

  • Keep cosy: Thermals, mittens, and a spare blanket for the buggy go a long way. Plus snacks snacks snack!
