Planning a trip to London with kids for the first time (or returning with little legs in tow)? It can feel like a lot. With 32 London boroughs, endless attractions, and a huge transport network, choosing where to stay is often the hardest part of the puzzle.

This guide is here to make it simple. I’m breaking down five of the best London neighbourhoods for families, each with its own vibe, great transport links, and plenty of family-friendly places to eat, play and explore. Think parks and playgrounds, walkable streets, easy day trips, and spots that work for prams, toddlers and older kids too.

First up: Hampstead. One of North London’s prettiest areas, packed with village charm, green space and a brilliant base for a family stay.

Hampstead is a charming and historic area in North London, known for its quaint village feel, beautiful green spaces, and cultural landmarks. It sits within the London Borough of Camden, just a few miles from central London, making it an easily accessible escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Getting to Hampstead is simple—if you're traveling by Tube, the Northern Line (Edgware branch) takes you straight to Hampstead Station, which is just a short walk from Hampstead Heath and the village’s bustling high street. Alternatively, you can take the Overground to Hampstead Heath Station, placing you right next to the Heath’s vast open spaces. Several bus routes, including the 24, 46, and 268, also serve the area, making it well-connected for those exploring London by public transport. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing stroll, a cultural day out, or a foodie adventure, Hampstead is an easy and worthwhile destination to reach!
