Cannes Like a Local: Best Coffee, Brunch and Restaurants for 2026
Of course, grabbing a café au lait in a classic French café is always a win, especially in Cannes where people-watching comes with the table. But this guide is for anyone looking for something a little different: the tucked-away coffee spots, stylish brunch places and independent cafés that make Cannes feel more local than postcard-perfect.
Whether you’re after a proper morning coffee, a slow brunch, somewhere to sit with a laptop, or a relaxed spot away from the busiest tourist streets, these are the places worth knowing about. Cannes may be famous for La Croisette, beach clubs and film festival glamour, but there’s also a softer side to the city, one filled with good coffee, fresh pastries, quiet corners and cafés you’ll want to come back to.
Market Day Coffee
Marché Forville
For a real taste of local Cannoise life, start your morning at Marché Forville. This is where Cannes feels a little less polished and a lot more lived-in, with locals picking up fresh fruit, flowers, cheese, bread, olives and whatever looks good for lunch that day.
Grab a coffee before or after wandering the stalls, then take your time soaking up the atmosphere. It’s the perfect slow morning stop if you want to see Cannes beyond the beach clubs and designer shops.
Pair it with a pastry, watch the market buzz around you, and enjoy one of the simplest pleasures of being in the South of France: good coffee, good food and nowhere to rush.
Open everyday except Mondays 7am ~ 1pm
A great market, on the edge of the old town to browse for local delicacies including lavender, honey, soaps, cheeses (!) as well as fruit and vegetables, meat and flowers. This is a great place to come and mingle with the locals, grab a souvenir and most importantly ~ stop for coffee.
Immerse yourself in the local culture and sip an espresso ( un café in French ) and watch the hustle and bustle of the working market around you.
Café de l'Horloge - Opens at 6am so perfect for an early espresso to start the day.
La Cannoise des Cafés et Thés - Open from 7am. Perfect for tea lovers a coffee connoisseurs alike. They have a wide variety of loose leaf teas and coffee beans from all over the world.

Croisette Coffee
Chic Cafés on or Near Cannes’ Most Famous Promenade
For a more polished Cannes coffee stop, head towards the famous Promenade de La Croisette. This is where Cannes does glamour properly, with sea views, grand hotels, designer boutiques and some of the chicest people-watching on the Riviera.
From Chanel and Dior to luxury beach clubs and elegant hotel terraces, La Croisette is the place to go if you want your coffee with a side of Riviera sparkle. It’s perfect for a slower morning, a dress-up brunch, or a bougie little pit stop between window shopping and wandering the seafront.
Expect prices to be higher here, especially if you’re sitting close to the beach or inside one of the grand hotels, but the setting is part of the experience. Grab a coffee, order something sweet, and enjoy Cannes at its most stylish.
Armani Caffe - Open from 9.30am.The chicest place in town for your morning coffee. Yes, It’s pricey (cappuccino is 6€!) Camélia Tea Lounge ~ The Carlton Hotel. Open from 11am. For an elevated experience, head to Camélia Tea Lounge for afternoon tea where they have a Harpest playing all afternoon. From 3pm every Saturday (apart from July & August) you’ll have an unforgettable experience in Cannes.

Coffee with Your Feet in the Sand
Turquoise sea views with my morning coffee? Yes please.
One of the loveliest ways to start the day in Cannes is with a coffee by the beach. Before the city fully wakes up, the seafront has a slower, softer feel, with the sound of the water, early beach walkers and that Riviera light doing all the hard work.
Cannes has plenty of beach bars and seafront cafés where you can stop for a relaxed café au lait, a fresh juice, pastries or a slow brunch with a view. It’s the kind of coffee stop that feels a little bit holiday, a little bit luxury, and completely worth lingering over.
These are the spots I’d choose for a relaxed beachside coffee, whether you’re easing into a beach day, taking a break from La Croisette, or just want somewhere pretty to sit and watch the turquoise water roll in.
CBeach. Open from 9am. CBeach is bohemian inspired beach bar & restaurant with relaxed Californian vibes. What an amazing way to start your day!
Hyde Beach. Opens at 10am. One of the best beach bars in Cannes for relaxed vibes. This is the perfect place for families as the music isn’t too loud and isn’t a ‘party bar’. It’s number two on my beach bars in Cannes … or maybe joint first!
L'Écrin Plage. Opens at 10am. If you fancy a walk along the Croisette before your coffee then head to L’Écrin Plage. You’ll notice there are two ports in Cannes Vieux Port and Port Canto. L’Écrin is located by Port Canto on the edge of town and is a lovely place to relax. It also happens to be my favourite in Cannes!
Coffee with a View
Rooftop Coffee Spots in Cannes
Fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle? Head up.
Cannes can feel busy at street level, especially around La Croisette, the old town and the shopping streets, but a rooftop coffee stop gives you a completely different view of the city. Think sea views, terracotta rooftops, palm trees, hotel terraces and that gorgeous Riviera light from above.
A rooftop café or hotel terrace is perfect for a slower morning coffee, a quiet afternoon pause, or a more elevated brunch spot if you want somewhere that feels special. It’s also a lovely option if you want the Cannes atmosphere without being right in the middle of the crowds.
These are the best places to enjoy coffee with a view in Cannes, whether you’re looking for a stylish rooftop terrace, a peaceful hotel café or somewhere to sit back and take in the Côte d’Azur from above.
Marea at Canopy by Hilton Cannes
Opens at 11am. Are you a beach person or a pool person? If the answer is pool the Lounge Bar by Le Roof is the place for you. Rooftop pool views with my coffee, yes please!
Hotel Belle Plage ~ Restaurant Bella.
Opens at 7.30am. With stunning views of L’Lerins Islands, L’Esterel Mountains and beyond, you’d be hard pushed to find a better panoramic view of Cannes.
Le Roof at Five Seas Hotel
Unlike many other Cannes rooftops, the view here is not towards the sea, but over the city roofs, ridges and other surroundings.
Medieval Coffee
Coffee in Le Suquet, Cannes Old Town
For coffee with a side of history, head to Le Suquet, Cannes’ medieval quarter. Set just above the harbour, this is the oldest part of the city, with narrow winding streets, pastel buildings, little stairways, cafés, restaurants and boutiques tucked into every corner.
Le Suquet feels very different from the polished glamour of La Croisette. It’s slower, more atmospheric and full of old-town charm, making it a lovely place to wander before stopping for a coffee or brunch. Grab a table outside if you can, order a café au lait or fresh juice, and soak up the cobbled streets and historic surroundings.
It’s a brilliant spot if you want to see a more characterful side of Cannes, away from the beach clubs and designer shops. Come in the morning for a quieter stroll, or later in the day when the streets start to fill and the old town takes on that golden Riviera glow.
Le Jardin Secret - Open for weekend brunches. A lovely place in Le Suquet with a small private garden. They serve , coffee, brunch, tapas style dishes, desserts and wines.
Tredici. Opens from midday
Nestled along the cobbled streets of Le Suquet, this a great spot for coffee amongst the most historic part of Cannes.
Da Bouttau Auberge Provencale
Open from midday. Situated in an ancient cave and the oldest restaurant in Cannes. The Da Bouttau opened in 1860. Sit and sip coffee amongst history.
Le Cafe ~ Hotel Le Suquet
Open from 9am. A lovely family friendly cafe sister to Hotel Le Suquet just 200m away. This is a great spot for families to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Family Friendly
Where to go with the kids
Emelie + The Cool Kids
Opens at 9am. As the name suggests, this is where the cool kids hang out in Cannes. Nestled along Rue Hoche (my favourite road for hidden gems) is set back from tourist traps making it a lovely hidden gem. From cookies to bagels, creamy cappuccino to their viral ‘rainbow shakes’. It’s an instagram dream and the food lives up to the hype!
Volupté Any Time Café
Opens from 8.30am. With it’s chic white interior and matcha lattes, this is the perfect hangout For something a little less traditional. Situated on Rue Hoche.
Le Cirque
Opens at 8am. One of my favourite lunch spots in Cannes (another one on Rue Hoche…see a pattern?!) it’s a great spot for coffee and people watching. The interior is a instagram dream with its hanging plants and industrial look
