Review: Mollies motel oxford: perfect for exploring the cotswolds

We were kindly invited by Mollie’s Motel Oxford for a stay, and as always, this is my honest review. If you’re looking for a stylish, family-friendly base for exploring the Cotswolds and Oxford, this one is seriously worth considering.

Why Mollie’s Motel is Perfect for Families

If you’re searching for a family-friendly hotel in Oxford or a stylish base for exploring the Cotswolds with kids, Mollie’s Motel ticks so many boxes. It feels modern, relaxed and genuinely designed with families in mind.

The layout, the facilities, and the overall vibe make travelling with children easy, which is exactly what you want after a full day of exploring.

Rooms & Interconnecting Spaces

One of the standout features for us was the interconnecting rooms. We had a twin and a double, which meant the kids had their own space while we could still relax once they were asleep.

They also offer bunk bed rooms sleeping four, which is perfect for larger families or teens wanting their own space.

  • Burford – A classic Cotswolds high street with independent shops, delis and beautiful views as you wander downhill.
  • Stow-on-the-Wold – Known for its historic market square and unique shops, perfect for a slower wander.

  • Lower Slaughter – One of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, perfect for riverside walks and slower moments.

Mollie’s Diner

Having Mollie’s Diner on site made everything so easy. It’s one of those places where everyone finds something they love.

The kids loved the Mini Mollie’s menu and the soft serve ice cream quickly became a highlight of the trip. We had breakfast here every morning.

Top tip: book in advance via the app or reception, especially on weekends as it gets busy.

There’s also a drive-through which is perfect if you’re heading out for the day.

Little Things We Noticed

It’s often the small, thoughtful details that really shape a stay, and Mollie’s had plenty of those moments that made everything feel easy, comfortable and just that little bit more special.

  • Dyson hairdryer and GHDs in the room – Such a game changer when travelling light and not wanting to pack everything.
  • Cowshed toiletries – A lovely touch that made the rooms feel more premium and considered.
  • No kettle in the room (but a better system instead) – The hallway water stations with boiling and chilled water were actually more convenient, especially with the carafe and teapot provided.
  • 24/7 tea and coffee station – Located in reception with a wider selection of herbal teas, perfect for winding down in the evening.
  • Takeaway cups available – Ideal for grabbing a drink before heading out for the day.
  • Plenty of parking – Easy, stress-free parking right outside the motel.
  • Electric charging points – A great addition if you’re travelling with an electric car.
  • 24/7 reception and bar – Perfect for late arrivals or a relaxed nightcap after the kids are in bed.

Everything felt designed with real life in mind, especially for families who want things to be simple, flexible and fuss-free while travelling.

would we return?

We absolutely loved our stay and would 100% return.

Mollie’s Motel Oxford is stylish, practical and genuinely family-friendly. It’s the perfect base for exploring both the Cotswolds and Oxford.

There are also two other Mollie’s locations in Bristol and Manchester, which makes it a great option for future UK stays.
