Accommodation: Luxury four-bedroom detached lodge sleeping up to 8, with three ensuite bedrooms, a further twin bedroom and a separate family bathroom.

Location: Peaceful setting in the small hamlet of Duthil, surrounded by open countryside with outstanding views across the Cairngorms National Park.

What to do: Explore the Cairngorms, visit Landmark Forest Adventure Park, ride the Strathspey Steam Railway, spot reindeer and wildlife, ski, cycle and enjoy the area's many outdoor adventures.

Best for families: Brilliant for larger families, multi-generational trips and family celebrations, with generous shared spaces, a playroom and plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

There are four bedrooms spread across three floors. The lower-ground-floor bedroom has a super king-size bed, French doors to the patio and a luxurious ensuite with bath and separate shower. Upstairs are a further super king-size bedroom with ensuite, a king-size bedroom with ensuite and a twin bedroom, alongside the main family bathroom.

Family-friendly features: The lodge is particularly well set up for families, with a cot available on request, two highchairs and stairgates. The dedicated playroom has a Smart TV, Sky and games, while the garage has table tennis and badminton equipment. The large lawn gives children plenty of space to play, although there is an unfenced stream in the garden which families with younger children should be aware of.

Dogs: Up to 2 pets are welcome.

  • Landmark Forest Adventure Park: Just outside Carrbridge, this brilliant family attraction has rides, woodland adventures and activities for a wide range of ages.

  • Cairngorm Reindeer Centre: Head into the mountains to meet Britain's only free-ranging reindeer herd. A memorable option for families visiting the Cairngorms.

  • Strathspey Steam Railway: Take a scenic heritage train journey through the Highlands, with beautiful views across the Spey Valley.

  • Explore Aviemore: Just 15 minutes away, Aviemore is the outdoor hub of the Cairngorms, with cafés, restaurants, shops, cycle hire and easy access to a huge range of family adventures.

  • Get outdoors: The surrounding area is fantastic for walking, cycling, skiing, horse riding, fishing, climbing and watersports. Loch Morlich and Loch Insh are both great options for family days out.
